Sustainability - Environmentally Friendly - Thinking Green
Believing in minimising the ecological impact we have as humans on our planet, my Bed & Breakfast is run with the same mindset, which you might call sustainable tourism:

Local Produce - wherever possible I use local produce for cooking and baking the home-made delicious food for my guests. There are several award-winning local providers on our door step, such as Edwards of Conwy (butcher) and the Bwyd Cymru Bodnant Welsh Food Centre. The sausages and bacon I offer as part of the cooked breakfasts are from Edwards of Conwy, for example.

Energy Use - aiming at reducing the environmental impact Rocklands has been insulated during a conservation project in the area over the past years and half of the sash windows are already double-glazed. Energy-efficient light bulbs and appliances with low energy consumption help with the footprint of the B&B as does the fact that I only change bed linen and towels for guests who stay a little longer every 7 days (unless there is a requirement to do so sooner, of course).
Recycling - reducing waste is the first principle, so buying foods where feasible from local suppliers without additional packaging does contribute positively. Ensuring all waste I incur is recycled in accordance with the local guidelines is a second step in the right direction - currently I'm able to recycle paper/cardboard, hard plastics, cans, glas and food waste.

Supporting Welsh People - the lovely bath and body care I provide in the guest bathrooms are bottled in Southern Wales by Myddfai Trading Company. This social enterprise, established in 2010, is helping adults with learning difficulties with work experience and volunteering opportunities. All profits support the rural regeneration of their local area.

Sustainability Certificates - Gaining two international accreditations (Green Key and Blaue Schwalbe) in 2018 has been great and tells me that my B&B is being run in line with ecological (green) principles and doing well by European Standards.

Accessibility - Everyone is welcome here
Please find a Word Version of the current Access Statement for Penmaenmawr Bed & Breakfast below, which you can scale to your reading requirements. This details the layout of the house, rooms and surrounding area . Any questions or concerns? Feel free to give me a ring so we can talk about it.
